Les Saises is a resort in the Espace Diamant ski area located in the Northern Alps.
It offers plenty of variety being linked to Praz sur Arly, Flumet, Notre Dame de Bellecombe, Crest-Voland and Hauteluce.
Continue readingThis is a most likely due to a failed heater fan resistor. A common fault that is easily fixed for less than £20 and a few minutes work…
The resistor pack is a set of electrical resistors that are in series with the heater fan motor in the lower speed settings and reduce the voltage to the motor, reducing the fan speed as a result.
On the highest setting the fan is fed directly with battery voltage (not through the resistor pack) which is why it still works when the resistor pack has failed.
If you lie on your back and poke your head under the dash on the passenger side you will see this fitted into the ducting, 2 screws and the electrical connector are all it takes to replace it with a new one, no other parts need to be removed to access it.
The later Ducatos (and sister vehicles the Peugeot Boxer and Citroen Relay) have a different resistor pack as shown below, but it should be mounted in a similar place and be just as easy to replace.
The resort of Super Besse is in the Massif Central region of France made up of long-extinct volcanoes, it is a family friendly resort offering 26 miles of pistes and while it may not have the altitude or variety of the Alps of Pyrenees it is a good alternative location during peak season when the big resorts get packed out, with the added benefit that ski passes are much cheaper than the big resorts!
The Super-Besse aire is large, well equipped and located right at the bottom of the pistes. There is power on most spaces and gas is available to buy from the reception.
When we visited there was even a family that appeared to have brought their pet pig with them!

Behind the main parking structure on the way into the resort is a decent sized Aire with views down the valley. There is a barrier on entry and you pay for parking at the machines in the parking structure – just as if you were leaving a car there.
Continue readingAt the Saix ski lift in Samoens is an official Motorhome Aire – though there are no facilities. There is however a campsite a few kilometers away at the bottom of the Grand Massif Express gondola, at the entrance of this campsite is a Flot Bleu where you can take on fresh water and empty waste.
Continue readingIn the pretty village of La Thuile there is a large serviced riverside motorhome aire a short walk from the bottom of the ‘Les Suches’ and ‘Bosco Express’ lifts.
