Alpe d’Huez is a high resort across the valley from Les Duex Alpes, it is a lively modern resort offering a good variety of skiing for all abilities, and is also linked to Auris-en-Oisans, La Garde, Le Freney d’Oisans, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and Villard-Reculas.

There is a large dedicated Motorhome Aire a short walk from the main ski lifts, next to the Altiport. It is barrier controlled and costs around 10 euro per night. There is no max stay as such but there is a max number of days you can purchase at any one time (around a week- 10 days)

There is a service area just inside the entrance for fresh water, and grey/black waste but there is no power in the main Aire so you will need decent solar and/or a generator for extended stays.

This site tends to get really busy at peak times (Christmas/ new years and Easter) and we have known motor homes to be queued up waiting to get in (navigating the slightly complicated checking in procedure not waiting for space!). There is however plenty of room and the snow ploughs seem to keep it well cleared after dumps of the white fluffy stuff.  We did need to use chains to get out one time after a dump of about 4 inches are there is an incline at the entrance which you will need to navigate to get to the flot blue

A 3 minutes walk away is a good little take away joint and the main ski pass office is in the center of the resort which is about a 7 minute walk.

To date we have never managed to “ski back” to the bus despite a few attempts but we are confident its possible!

Its quite a friendly little aire with people willing to help each other out with snow shovels etc.

Due to the altitude this area is quite snow sure but the night time temperatures can get REALLY low (easily -20 and below) so be prepared! We have seen some pop top rigs here and they seemed to cope with the cold conditions just fine. This site also seems to be popular for some really large set ups 7tonne plus which can take up quite a lot of space.

All round a great site with fab links to a good quality resort. Christmas and New years festivities here are an experience!
